1984 Bertram 42 Flybridge Motor Yacht

Gadabout is a beautiful example of the classic, well built, Bertram 42 Motor Yacht.  Lovingly maintained by each of the previous owners with extensive records that show all maintenance and upgrades.  Spending summers on the Great Lakes and heated storage during the winter months have contributed to this 1984 beauty looking at least half her age.

The proven deep-v hull design enables the Bertram 42 to handle sea conditions that keep other motor yachts her size in port.  At planing speeds the Bertram shoulders aside building seas.  They are a remarkable combination of build quality and design that was made for serious cruising.

In 2006 Gadabout was repowered with twin Mercruiser 8.1s along with the removal of the fiberglass fuel tanks and installation of aluminum tanks.  With a leather sleeper sectional, warm and cozy teak, spacious cabins and heads this interior will make you forget you are on a boat.  Thinking about extended cruising, liveaboard or a weekender that you want to sleep up to 8 on a boat?  This Bertram will keep you happy and comfortable.

Current owners started the Great Loop on Gadabout.  They enjoyed two summers in Canada and the Great Lakes and were headed south on the Illinois river.  Sudden illness is forcing sale but Gadabout is ready to go and get back out there for her next big adventure.

    Additional Details:

Cruise or just hang out at anchor in style and comfort in the large cockpit.  A full canvas enclosure with zippered windows allows airflow on hotter days or keeps you warm during rougher/colder conditions.   The fly bridge offers elevated views with two captains chairs and an 8’ upholstered bench that can seat up to 5 adults. Flush deck forward and wide side decks make docking or going through locks a breeze.  Electric davits on the stern with a capacity of 1000lbs allows launching a dinghy(center console dinghy is available for separate purchase)to be effortless.

Guests have privacy in huge v-berth forward followed by large closet (that even has a central vac system) that has a locking door to close off the v-berth.  Hallway has a sizeable head to port with lots of storage and a shower.  Stairs lead up to the mid-level galley that includes a full size refrigerator, electric range/oven, microwave, double sink and tons of storage.   Aft of the galley is the large salon area with a swivel leather chair, storage ottoman and custom leather sectional sofa that has storage drawers and converts to a comfy bed for two.  Mounted 120/12v television with dvd player.  Moving aft there is no shortage of space in the owner’s stateroom with 2 beds, 2 hanging lockers, storage cabinets under beds, storage in sidewalls, built in dresser with drawers and two oversized mirrors that open to reveal huge built-in shelves.  Full sized head with enclosed shower. Gadabout is turnkey and ready to go anywhere you want to take her.
